Some Bright Ideas to Light Up Your Home

Author: Lucy Helderson

The way you light up your home can change entirely the way it looks and can create a completely different setting to reflect the aura of mystique or sophistication you might want on occasion. Sound expensive? It neednt be- all you need is a new lamp or two not only to just light up your room, but to add a bit of razzmatazz and a dash of glamour to your home. The bad old days when lamps were just lamps used only to dispel darkness at nightfall have long since been banished.

If youre looking for a lamp that not only looks good but will also provide the perfect lighting for work areas, you might want to consider buying a halogen lamp. The lighting from halogen lamps is great because the light source is tungsten, which is a gas tool that uses a quartz bulb and halogen. Halogen lamps were once lifeless and boring but have been perked up with flair and styling so that they look good no matter where you decide to place them in your home.

Youll need to use lamps for their lighting purpose but this doesnt mean that you cant have fun buying them and adding them to your home. Gone are the days when you buy a couple of lamps at the store and put them on matching side tables. Here are some ideas of how you can perk up a room with your choice of a lamp.

If you have a collection of shells or rocks that youd like to display, but have never quite figured out how to show them off without having them collect dust on the shelf, you may want to consider buying a lamp from a craft store that has a clear base in which you can place your shells. This is a great way to create a unique and one of a kind lamp that reflects your own personality.

Buying new lampshades for your old lamps is another way to change the lighting in a room. There are so many lampshades that you can choose from to create any type of atmosphere. You can buy a lampshade or make one to fit your exact decorating needs.

Retro lamps from the sixties and seventies are making a big comeback. Sometimes all they need is a bit of sprucing up to make them look like new again. Some of the colors from those decades are also becoming popular again, such as the dark oranges and the rust colors.

You dont have to spend a fortune to buy a new lamp for your home. All you need is a little imagination and some time to create some fun and exciting lamps and lampshades.
